As an admittedly jaded lifelong collector and professional appraiser of antique, vintage and contemporary silver hollowware, I’m awestruck. The 3.5 high cup with scrolled ear-shape handle is engraved with an ibis and chick amid spiked grasses in rose gold against a silver ground. The marsh scene centers a large cartouche with elaborate script monogram. The 4.8 diameter saucer is decorated with four marsh birds in yellow gold. Color, hue and textural contrasts are captivating.
